graph/chart/map and citation

This graph shows the ammount of drugs people smoked in a week and in a month. This graph relates to my topic by showing how many people smoke/do drugs in a week and a month, in which gives an insight on how this can become addicting.

quote #3

"Whether you’re addicted to nicotine, alcohol, heroin, Xanax, speed, or Vicodin, the effect on the brain is the same: an uncontrollable craving to use that is more important than anything else, including family, friends, career, and even your own health and happiness."-

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/drug_substance_abuse_addiction_signs_effects_treatment.htm

This quote was taken out of an article on drug abuse. The article talks about the signs and symptoms of drug abuse and how it affects the abusers and people around them lives. Lastly, it talks about how you as an everyday person can help a drug abuser and the people affected by them.
I chose this quote because it shows how people can get when they are an abuser of drugs. Also, it shows how being a drug abuser can affect the people around you and how hard it is for them, especially if they are a kid. This quote uses the persuasive technique of big names and ties in with another persuasive technique, which is pathos because the affects of these names causes your emotions to come into play with the way you feel about my topic.

quote #2

“Repeated drug use alters the brain—causing long-lasting changes to the way it looks and functions.” -

http://www.helpguide.org/mental/drug_substance_abuse_addiction_signs_effects_treatment.htm

This quote was taken from an article that talks about the signs and symptoms of drug abuse and the causes it has on both the abuser and people around them. I chose this quote because it gives people a mental image on what can happen to a drug abuser and how it could affect people around them. Lastly, I chose this quote because it will motivate people to want to help these people so that they don't have to mess their brain up and affect the people around them. This quote uses the propaganda technique of hidden fears because people don't want their brains altered, so they will act and help so that it won't happen to others.

quote #1

"A conservative estimate is that one in six children in school today has a parent who is dependent on or addicted to alcohol or other drugs." - Leah Davies.

This quote came from an article that talks about how people can make a difference in the lives of an abuser and how they can help those people. Also, it talks about how drug abuse can affect kids of an abuser and what the signs are to tell who those kids might be. I chose this quote because it gives an insight on how important and wide spread this issue is. Also, I believe when people read this quote they will want to try to reduce this issue and help those kids of drug abusing parents. This quote uses the persuasive technique of research and uses it in a way to strengthen the importance of this issue.

photo #3

I chose this photo because it shows the effort I'm putting in to stopping this issue and helping kids around the world. I feel that when people see this photo it will motivate them in a way that they will want to join me in helping stop this issue and helping those kids dealing with this issue. This picture uses the persuasive technique of karios because when you see it it gives you the feeling of wanting to act now.

photo #2

I chose this picture because I feel it displays the lifestyle of the kids with drug abusing parents. Also, I feel that by showing people how the kids have to be independent, then it will make people want to help more and make it easier on those kids. This photo really ties into my topic well and shows people what this issue does to kids. This photo uses the persuasive technique of pathos because when people see this photo they will want to help these kids and not let them be independent and antisocial all their lives.

photo #1

This photo is of a boy and his sister talking about how they feel that their dad doesn't love them when he does drugs. If you look closely you can see their dad doing drugs in the background as well. I picked this photo because I feel it ties in with how kids feel when they have to deal with drug abusing parents. Also, I think when people see this photo it will affect their emotions and will draw them into my topic. This photo uses propaganda in the form of plain folk because by using kids it could get in touch with everyday people and their past that they might have had to deal with.

My wordle gives a brief picture of popularly used words that come up when you talk about parental drug abuse. My wordle was made from a paragraph taken from one of the articles i found. This article talked about how to identify a drug abuser through signs and symptoms. Also, it talked about how you can help these people out and be a big influence in stopping drug abuse. What I want to know.

My topic consists of many affecting drugs and what they do. I would like to know which drug has the most negative affect on people? I believe if I have this information I can really narrow my focuses down and become a big influence on preventing this issue. Furthermore, I would like to know what is the main cause or causes behind drug abuse, and how can we stop it? If I could learn about the causes of drug abuse, then I can have some background information on my topic and would be able to strengthen my abilities in stopping it. Lastly, but not least, I want to know what are the reasons people do drugs, should they be allowed to do them if a parent, why do they mainly do it, and how many kids are affected by this today? Knowing this information will really inform me on my topic and make me more of an influence in stopping parental drug abuse.

Known Information

Parental drug abuse is a world wide issue that is affecting all types of families and lifestyles. There are many types of drugs in the world today, which makes the cases of parental drug abuse different from others. Sense the issue is world wide it affects all ages ranging from newborns to senior citizens. Everyone who is close to an abuser or is an abuser themselves is affected by the issue and it can become a toll on your psychological and physical health. Many people dealing with this issue have ranged in affect from attempting or commiting suicide to inflicting pain on themselves and/or shutting themselves off from the world. Drug abuse has become worse over the years, especially sense some drugs are now legal in some states, and it will probably continue to get worse. The only way that this will decrease is if we as a nation can raise awarness and actually try and do something and be assiduous in our attempt in stopping parental drug abuse.

Brainless

Drugs, one of the most addicting, yet negatively affecting things known to man. All my life, since I could remember, I have had to deal with both my mother and father doing, buying, or selling drugs. As a child I paid no attention to it, other than thinking that mommy and daddy were sick, mainly because I didn't understand what it was. When I reached the age of nine, I began to fully understand what my parents were doing, what was wrong with them, and why they couldn't help me with anything. Gradually their addictions grew to where it became an everyday thing of my parents doing drugs and not being able to function hardly at all. Dealing with these domestic issues has been rough for me over the years, but has ultimately made me a more independent person, given me a better outlook towards others, and a better outlook on life. This is my story behind my topic, I felt that I needed to bring this out in the open so that people can really see what happens to children dealing with similar ordeals.
